Reminiscing about the “Good Ol Days” is often a lot of fun, but trust me, everything about the old days wasn't all that glamorous.

Poem Artwork

THE GOOD OL DAYS

The old days somehow seem better
then back when they were new.
Seems, now we really enjoyed
all the things we used to do.

Choppin’ wood and haulin’ it in
just wasn’t that much fun,
but back there in the day
they were chores needin' done.

And when we walked to school
in those old hand me downs,
that was all we knew,
so we saw no reason to frown.

Oh, at times I was embarrassed
by the patches on my jeans,
but nowadays they cost extra
if they’re falling apart at the seams.

Somehow those old days seem better
if you never had to live them.
Maybe our memories fade,
or we exaggerate with them.

I wouldn’t want to testify,
but I’d swear to it in a letter,
all things considered,
I’ve really never had it better.

Yes, I can remember the wood chores, the hand me downs and the old clothes versus school clothes...
but...ah it was a lot simpler...
