"Dick-idioms" are little philosophical gems I have penned over the years. The numbering sequence is just my way to identify them. This one, along with its twin sister #20 soon to follow, parodies the philosophy of my father.
What work ethic? I have had a stream of the worse workmanship, repair jobs, new products, etc. I was actually told a few years ago, when a new washing machine was delived, that I would be buying another machine sooner than I thought. When I asked why, he told me that all appliances built today were thought of as "throwaways", to be replaced within 5 years. There is no pride in manufacturing and selling anything anymore, just the almighty "greedy dollar!" ##..%%$$##.. Joy L. Hale
