Not dead yet, but I'm getting closer to the ground. Gonna have me some fun, before I completely fall down. I stand six feet tall, looking down seems like a short fall, at least while I'm strong to stand, on God's great land.
Look out on the horizon, what you see may not be surprising. There I'll be, searching for glee, Trying to find a simple smile, that might turn to a laugh of a country mile.
I don't need much for fun, I'm a very simple son of a gun. A pretty sunlit day can be a start, of putting joy in my heart. Just feeling good enough to move, can get me in the groove.
Knowing the meaning of down, is just enough to bring me around. I've experienced the ground, seen many really and truly down. Until I really get there, my wings take air.
I fly my little red truck, since eagle wings aren't my luck. I go to my favorite places, the ones with happy faces. I love just sitting under a nice shade tree, out in the wilderness wild and free.
Watching the animals play, as though they have forever to live, truly makes my day. I watch and learn, knowing sooner or later, I may have to burn.
Note: Since my husband's cancer surgery 4/25/05, this book content has been integrated into the public speaking content for audiences interested in a sassy approach to personal and/or community awareness events. Another chapbook on intimate love poet
unless you were talking of tire tracks;-)
