Hardly anyone wants to
take it on the chin,
even me amoung all men.
Most of us want it easy to heart,
when actually life is pretty hard.
I wish for millions in the lotto,
when taking it on the chin
is part of my motto.
Hard life is all I ever knew,
even before I learned to chew.
Nothing ever came that easy,
but life negative and sleazy.
Being a good person takes guts,
life has many negative ruts.
We get stuck in,
over and over again.
Some break out,
then take a more positive route.
Most of us have vices,
we get stuck in the ices.
Frozen stiff,
might get out if.
Up in these old years,
my chin has faced most of my fears.
I stood and took the blows,
the Lord only knows.
No one knows that
I've been floored,
knocked clean the freak out,
but I got up swinging,
even though my head was ringing.
Now I have on a chin guard,
for the blows that still come hard.
Hard to keep a good man down,
so I must be on the ground.
Everyday I try to rise,
life deals a new surprise.
