This is just from my life and experience. Be glad if it's not yours but I've found that no one gives a kitty unless you're kissing up to them.
When I stop kissing up and catering to certain friends and family members I never heard too much from them and they started acting funny. As long as my wife and I were spending our money and time kissing up everything was just fine. I don't own a kitty but we use to have a toy poodle. My wifes poodle only liked me when I had a treat in my hand. Most of the other times she ignored me. And I had to be careful how I disciplined her while we were trying to train her not to use the bathroom on the floor especially. On this one occasion one of my family members screamed, "I don't give a kitty about what your saying." So goes this poem.
Here kitty kitty, I've got a good treat, won't you come and eat? Kitty ran right to my arms, soaked up me charms.
Here kitty kitty, I have no treat, won't you come too meet. Kitty ran on away, went on with his play.
Kitty won't react to, unless there's some treat chew. I have to keep treats around, or kitty can't be found. I hate to train kitty tough, he might react negatively to rough.
I give kitty a little squeeze, just as a training tease. Later kitty runs, start giving me the shuns. Kitty only reacts to treats, no treats, no meets.
Get a Buster Brown Kitty, that's my cat, Pride. He won't leave me alone for one second. He acts more like a kid than cat.
If I don't pay attention to him, he climbs on my back.
I know what you mean about kitty not paying attention to you. My last cat Freddy hardly came to me or paid any attention to me even when I called him; but the kitty I have now is the extreme opposite, Pride pays too much attention to me and won't leave me alone.
