If a grizzly bear shows up on my doorstep, I'm going to feel in my brain that I'm going to beat his azz real good. I'll even think this while he's eating my azz alive. Lifes more mental than anything else.
In my brain
I'm not running
or backing down
from any
son of a sea biscuit
But this is in
my brain
A strong azz fantasy
of survival
In real life existing
I'll back down twisting
in a flea flicking second
before I go to jail
or end up in
the devils hell
Won't even dare to
leave a smoke trail
Here's my spin
on writing and verse
even when it
turns bad or worse
Never will I quit
no quity quit
forget it
Hey
I back down from
my wife and
mother-in-law
all the time
I even back down
from myself
before I'll
ruin my health

Yep, and it is ourselves that we will mostly back down from, for it is our crazed selves which will put us in front of the bullet. I think I see the point in Trask's comment: We and all born with one destination - death - and it matters what we do in life for survival is all we possess. Hmmm ... good one, Grady :-)
