Life's Canvas

(You're the one that controls the brushes and paints.)

How are you going to paint your life's picture?

Just what type media are you going to use to bring out the texture?

Are you going to use bright energetic colors or dark dull colors?

Or is it worth your few little dollars?

Are you going to paint yourself negative and sad or positive and happy with joy and glee?

To me, life is just like a canvass, the picture you paint on it is just the way your life is going to be.

I don't care what the heck is going on in this crazy world right now as I write.

It can be peace, war, or whatever.

What I paint on my personal canvas is my true endeavor.

I tell you what, go out and try to control what might be painted on other peoples canvas or the worlds canvas.

You'll end up needing a happy pass.

Because pain and misery will be all over your -ss.

When I get off from work today, I will be smiling on my way home.

About a month ago my wife was worried because she thought I was going to have a heart attack from shoveling all of the snow from around our little kingdom.

Hell, I thought I was too.

Man I shoveled so much snow it almost turned me blue.

Forget the war and the dam terrorist thing.

I almost died right around my own little living ring.

Hold on now, let me paint this picture right!

I'm just glad I'm going to be around to see the results of this dam fight!

High blood pressure.

High cholestrol.

My baseball bat carrying mother-in-law.

All these crazy young hoodlums looking for a free ride, your ride.

Everyday somebody's getting shot in this Baltimore area.

Hell, I'm about ready to go paint my old ass in the up coming war.

Anyway, I got control of the brush and paints in this this paint jar.

I paint a smile on my face.

I paint a smile in my soul.

I paint a smile in my heart.

I paint a smile on your part.

Hell I'm the artist.

I say eat, drink and be happy.

Even if your hair is nappy.

Just be glad you don't have to put a war bonnet on your naps.

I'm finish with this anyway.

I'm going to leave here and find something else to help me laugh and play.

I control the canvas)))))))*****

I control the canvas! Now there's a fine motto. Look after yourself and keep on controlling that canvas.

You are quite an artist, Grady. Quite the artist indeed. You words paint a picture a a man who has been to hell and back and refused to bring home souvenirs that might scare others. I love your poetry. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

Grady:

This was excellent write. An artist who paints is also like a poet, they paint with their heart and soul. However they feel shows in their paintings, and it becomes "their styles", much like every poet has his/her own style.

Nice thought-provoking piece!

You know what Grady...I can relate to this..that is why I love painting...you get lost in it..your own little world..you control it. when nothing else can be controlled..but I only feel this way because I feel Gods love and I am content that He watches over me...I do not fear death..I relate to this write so much...some days I feel down and sad for losses in life..but it doesnt take much to get me happy again...who controls your life is the most important thing...and God controls mine..you sound like a happy fellow...I am happy for you...and I LOVE THIS POEM..great work...now go paint...LOL...Floria
