If I haven't payed my dues,
I'd better get out of my shoes.
Some dues will follow us for life,
and cut at us like a sharp knife.
If you don't believe me, come live with my wife.
I have payed so many dues,
I can't even afford my shoes.
If I hadn't learned strong positivity,
I would definitely be in the blues negativity.

However I'm a seasoned veteran in this life game,
but in my younger years it was a crying shame.
My ears had so much water behind them,
you could take a bath and a swim.
Then came the flood,
and later on the mud.

Then I got stuck,
and still didn't have sense enough to buy a four wheel drive truck.
When I finally did,
I played with it like a big kid.
I couldn't believe what I had been missing.

BB King sang the blues,
about really paying his dues.
As I was listening,
my wife was collecting.
Before the song end,
she had collected a dividend.

I screamed, "can I keep it awhile in my own pocket!"
She took off like a rocket.
She had her running shoes on,
car gased up and ready to get going.

Until this day I still pay,
however I collect more pay.
The more I collect,
the more she collect.

My wife,
and life,
between the two,
I'll never get out of the stew.
I'll forever be the roast,
so to my soul I propose a toast.

"Here's to you my strong heart and soul,
I'm so glad I broke the stupidity mold,
and quit adding unnecessary payments,
to my all ready high dues installments."

As I make my tally,
I realize that I'm no longer in the stupidity alley.
Giving up things like alcohol,
increased my dividend haul.
And learning to control my behavior,
was really a dues savior.
Learning positivity,
ended my dues negativity.
Learning to respect,
more than to disrespect,
boosted my dues into retrospect.

It all amounts to not paying unnecessary dues,
for walking in stupidity shoes.
The amount I now save,
since I've learned to behave,
frees me considerably from the dues slave.

Oh!

 I still pay,
but it's more my way,
and cheaper day by day.
