Boyhood is wonderful but manhood is safer. Amen!

We mature into life,
we make an adjustment to
the misery and strife.
It's all in vision,
the way in which we view
and uderstand our total mission.
Previous problems handled immaturely,
as we grow are handled more maturely

When I was a boy,
that's right you can't send a boy
to do a man's job.
He may run away and sob,
and give up the hard job.
It takes a man to live in this hard world of crime.
Becoming a man takes time,
you just don't pop out of the womb a man.
You come as a baby,
then develope into a baby boy.

This is part of lifes problem.
Before we learn to be strong,
life may go wrong.
So wrong that we may never recover,
then trouble we may discover.
Then it may take years,
to recover from foolishness with our peers.

When I was a boy,
I drank alcohol,
A boy don't have any business,
messing with his immature brain,
his brain already suffers a drain,
trying to figure out,
what the hell life is all about.
Add the alcohol,
the boy may fall.
Right on his face,
in total disgrace,
not knowing his place.

I fell so many times as a boy,
I thought I was the devils toy.
And guess what?
I was helping him kick my own butt.

Finally I broke the alcohol bottle,
took my foot off of the trottle,
and slowed my behind down,
before I completely fell to the ground.
I was in a dive to the earths crust,
headed straight to the dust.
Ashes to ashes,
dust to dust,
my behind was surely about to burst.

It's a good thing to keep your little boy,
but you'd better learn to control his toy.
If the little boys toys include drugs and alcohol,
the man may certainly fall off the wall.

My biggest toy,
my ride of joy.
My automobile.
When I was a boy,
I tried to mix alcohol with my toy.
I'm going to be honest about the automobile.
The reason so many people get killed in vehicle
accidents is,

there are too many boys operating them.

Too many boys who think they can drink
and drive.
A vehicle can be a weapon in the hands of the wrong
person,
a boy person,
And it's not all about age,
there are millions of grown men that are still boys,
who refuse to give up their alcohol when operating their toys.

One reason I'm a happier person now,
is because I gave up drinking alcohol,
and all the other stupid unnecessary activities.
You couldn't pay me to drink and drive anymore.
Whatever my problems are now,
this is one I certainly deplore.
No more arrest for driving while intoxicated,
no more driving problems alcohol related.
No more life problems alcohol related.

Yes, I could write a book about this boy to man thing,
I never meant to go this far,
but I got carried away,
better to get carried away here,
than to get carried away in real life,
adding to misery and strife.

As I count my blessing as a man today,
I reflect back on the boy that went away.
He was certainly fun,
but I'm glad he's gone.

Amen
