A poem about an old person returning to their childhood home and memories coming back to them

The trees they whisper softly Within the fields, I played The river runs as always Gold memories conveyed Buildings torn and raised Skyline unknown to eyes Yet the old oak is still standing Silhouette of sunset skies This used to be my playground Now I walk an older man Back then the days were endless We had no lifelong plan No train to catch to work Just be home my dark No rules to live by back then Our world it was the park The paint adorns the walls Graffiti is here still But the words are oh so meaningless Whatever happened to 'skill'? Since then I’ve travelled far and wide All corners of the earth Yet no place will ever mean more to me Than the place that saw my birth

Wonderful sediments wrapped up into a neatly packaged poem! Yes, I loved to swing as well, I loved the chutes and ladders but nothing made me smile more than the sand pile. Where did the sand piles go? Who knows?

We have a large old fountain in the town square
where people still toss in coins.
It has been restored again and again
I finally tossed in a coin
in hopes the restorations never end.
