Hey you butter cups
Ain't you pretty enough
Standing in the sunlight rows
Gleaming with that shine
Smiling face in time
Spring is bout to let it show
Everyone knows
No worries if it snows
Quickly as it comes and goes
The cold might bite
You will surely fight
As long as your colors glow
Hey you butter cups
Again again again and again
Standing in the sunlight rows
You buttered me up with your buttercups in this poem.
Reminded me of the time on a warm spring road trip when my brother and I were six. When the car overheated and dad got water from the ditch to get it to cool down. We picked buttercups for mom to put in vases when we got home. Unfortunately after a noon picnic that day, we ran into a car that came up blind on a very hilly road and rolled over in the ditch. The buttercups were strewn all over the car and we didn't take them with us when we got a ride home later that night.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
