Written for my mother long long ago.. and as they say.. somethings never change.
Do you have a heart?
If you do ...
Is it made of stone?
Resting in a deep dark place.
That can never be found.
I have tried to find it..
Reach for it..
Even break it.
But it is to small to find..
To strong to break..
This stone heart of yours..
Simply cannot be reached.
Did you even have a heart?
Or were you born with none?
How sad that you will never feel
true love inside.
Never feel that warm
feeling of pride.
Not even a true smile
from your heart
for your own child.
I guess we both lose
when you hide.
I know you own a piece
of one heart ..
The one you took from me.
Please keep it..
you cannot hurt me anymore.
And even though I know
you still want to cause me pain..
I stopped fooling myself that
someday you might change.
I just want you to know
that little piece of heart
you possess
though filled with scars
and tears
will always love you
and will always care..

and fear.

i agree with you over the mother issue this waas a painful and emotinal poem thank yoou for sharing it
I understand how some woul see a deeper love in this poem.. but i MUST clarify.. It took me YEARS and YEARS to come to terms with this woman.. my mother.. Love ..she knows nothing of.. She knows how to break you.. your body.. your teeth.. your bones..if this is love and i am mistaken..Let me know.
Oh, Erica...how this breaks the heart of the reader. You've made me appreciate my own mother more. Writing it down makes it real and oftentimes easier to put things in their proper place. Keep writing it all down, hon.
