still working on it...

Poem Artwork

She got up before the the sun came up one day..
Then when she saw her life..
She started packing..
Then suddenly realized
she had nothing to take..
She ran outside..
through the woods she started walking..
Now seeing with eyes
she thought must be blessed
with divine intervention..
She sees she was empty inside..
With outstretched arms she starts dancing..
Twirling around watching the sun slowly rise..
She felt as if she was seeing this
for the very first time..
That the rest of her life..
she was locked within herself
alone and blind.
How could she have missed this beauty..
All her life.. right before her eyes..
Now she has time for introspection..
Something she has needed for so long..
All because she got up before the sunrise..
and found the courage she needed to go it alone..
One day you may see her out there walking..
To you she may look lost without a home..
But she loves herself..
and the world around her ..
She walks to learn as much as she can each day..
Never feel sorry for this strange girl..
She has what so many of us crave.
She is wise...
A thousand times our age..
When the day comes that she stops walking..
Will be the day she is laid in her grave..
I am sure that the skies will surely darken..
As the earth grieves the loss of one so young and brave..
Just look at the words on her stone she left to remind us..
Don't forget to watch the sunrise each new day..
Don't forget to open your arms to all in need..
For these are daily miracle we forget to see..
Get up before the sunrise..
Blind you will no longer be.
Now she is in heaven flying..
Watching the sunrise from above..
As I sit writing this as the sun rises..
Hoping to catch a hint
of what she saw that day...
Hoping to find a hint of intervention...
But knowing most of our eyes are not really open ..
Most of our hearts
are like freshly planted seeds..
Not really ready..
To quite believe.
Perhaps in the future..
This gift will be given ...
Undoubtedly to those most in need..
To the wakers
The dancers among  tress
Twirling around..
Watching the sun rise..
Knowing they have nothing to hide..
Knowing the secrets of life..
Are all in the sunrise in the morning..
And the sunset at night..
And the sun shines brightly on her tomb stone..
To make this message clear..
All you have to do is look..
To find what is already here.
The only thing that blinds you..
Is your own fear.

You worked overtime on this one, Erica. The flow of words were graceful and the message was time-honored. Good job.
