Journeys questions

Poem Artwork

Purpose.

Meaning..

Life is like water ..

It flows to many places..

Rivers..

Canals

Streams..

Always changing directions..

Not quite knowing..

Flowing

Turning..

Changing

Endlessly

Until it ends where it is meant to be.

Preordained it seems..

Are we created with choice

in every way..

If all is preordained..

Have my decisions..

My choices

Already been made?

If so..

Than are we not all

somehow enslaved?

Do we live in a paradox

Of invisible chains?

A puppet on strings..

Here for one reason

One thing..

HIS thing..

Love is the purpose..

God is the way..

Choice is an illusion..

When all is preordained..

Your parents were picked

before you were born..

Your life..

Your falls..

Your pain..

Your happiness..

All planned..

M e t i c u l o u s l y

by our creators hand.

Now I have to wonder..

Who is to say..

If I am here by choice..

or by what is preordained..

Am I truly free..

With invisible chains?

Am I making life happen..

Or is life happening to me?

Do I have any say ..

Is my life truly free?

Creator I ask..

For it is in your hands I long to be..

I only want to know..

If I am fighting my own destiny.

Of a preordained life

you planned for me.

A masterpiece of the first rate!

Very interesting to read and think about Erica. Not only does this seem true. We inherit most of our parents mental and physical problems. What a life. The best thing is to overcome as much as possible. do things like eat a better diet than your parents, don't drink or use drugs, and fight the mean genes, which is what I did. My father was mean as hell also so I fought real hard to be a nicer person, and I prayed. My prayers were answered but not before many foolish times. love and peace G

"Preordained In Chains"... If we are foreordained, then we have nothing else to do but obey... If we do have choices and free will, then we must produce viability. I think that we must REMEMBER who we are...!

This is a true masterpiece. "Preordained In Chains" is a striking reading. I could list this one as one of Your best.

Health, Creativity and Prosperity.

I Salute You, Poet Erica G. Ivory.

Congratulations for Your "Journey Through Shadows" to be released by Spring, 2004.

Hi Erica,
Each of us seem to struggle, at times, with our own destiny, being filled with so many questions throughout the struggle, as if the struggle was pre-ordained. You have expressed kindred thoughts and questions here... very well written....

Questions, eloquently asked, that all honest souls have wondered about. Incredible poem.

..this is well written Erica..just flows so smootjly..yet the subject within it doesn't seem smooth does it?*smile*

I am convinced that indeed we have free will..we do make choices etc. that manifest thus bringing forth a life with the scenario that we are in..however I am also convinced that we avail ourselves of the freedom of will while we are STILL on the OTHER side..we plan our lives to a T..thus we really DO have free will ..it is alas in action prior to our birth..perhaps it sounds unfair..yet it isn't..for our primary SELF is the Divine aspect of our Being...in a way..I suppose..it does seem as if we are puppets..BUT we are our OWN puppets..hmm..I do hope I have managed to make myself clear..*smile*

I am having the same reaction as Ed. These questions haunt all that seek truth. Loved the flow and the simple way you said so much. Great write.

Oh God I could go on forever about this poem
those question nag me all the time. you read and read
and research to find answers and it only winds up confusing you more
because of the conflicts found. I better stop because I really should comment on the poem and not the subject.
I really enjoyed the flow of this and the form was perfect for the theme.
excellent write
