                                                    ~

~   Out of the clover  ~

                                     purple violets appear
petals of five adorn each violet

I will take my time looking for the right
purple violets for my table, pretty are they
a look of grace, on my table

Pretty purple violets, as a child of five
a bouquet in my small hand
                                     violets for my dolls

I went to the dooryard again to gather
a fine bouquet  to set on my writing table
the parlor doors are set open

                             Guests are coming this afternoon
purple violets color will be welcomed
a cup of tea ~ a sweet tart

A breeze is light, clouds of pearly white
pass over the clover where the
                                    purple violets appear

                          Lovely the morning sun against
                                  the window pane
my favorite place to sit is
                           upon the warm window sill

                      Enchanting are the violets
                                 color of royal purple
                               appearing  from the clover

Time was spent on a lovely morning
                                 gathering purple violets
                                     five petals adorn

                                       tea is served

This reminds me of when I was child and my mother and I would go into the woods to look for the wild violets. Thank you, Mary Ann. Love and best wishes to you,

This poem has such a delicate feel to it,
Mary Ann, and a genuine air of enchantment,
a recall of more elegant, more innocent times.
