Poem Artwork

In my hand I've a gun
Am I a soldier
Shooting school children
Does it mean guns are fun

Killing people at work
Is it really a joke
Shooting in a mall...
Is this freedom for all

Or should someone rethink
That the amendment stinks
The land of the brave - oh dear
Is a nation built on fear

Because I'm black
Gives you permission to attack
There's something in your brain
That's insane and you lack

American dream
A love affair
Nation under God
Living a mare

Not everyone should have a gun, knife, anything deadly and we need to take steps to see that they don't. Well penned Andy.

As a nation, we are obsessed with violence and also very fearful of the “unknown.” That makes us cuddle up to a warm gun with thoughts of some kind of protection from all kinds of evils in our own version of the Second Amendment.

It's time we got real and removed violence from our vocabularies and our lives.

This is not an American Dream; it very sadly seems to be a World Dream these extremely sad days on our planet.

If I had a big knife.
Believe me, I could take your life.
So let's be true.
Guns don't kill, people do!

Amen!!!

Because I'm white
You come gunning for me
The American Dream
You learn hatred at your knee.

It's not the guns that terrify me...it's who's carrying them...

Strikes a chord...
Amend the amendment...
Thou shalt not kill
Is the first commandment...
Which came first?
Which is worst?
Hard to say
in this age and day...

You've written a memorable and provocative poem here Andy... we need more who think like you...

Roger
