I am wounded
Behold my pale puckered flesh,
pallid lips which are pained
with every utterance expressed
.
My balm keeps rolling with the wind
and I cannot seem to recall
which way it was meant to go
to my bloodied soul, or the world
which appreciates it best
by not wounding me again
.
This scar opens to a bleeding heart
it courses its way through all the crevasses
which are named veins
and are, in truth,
simply another place to ache
