For nearly two years we are waiting for a government to be born in Mbagathi, Kenya where somalis gathered for reconciliation talks. Any time they come close to the finishing line, they borrow more time to discuss some pressing issues. But what about us...... those who are kept in waiting. we are losing hope with these talks, we are losing faith with the whole project. Somalia is a tattered nation. its borders are porous, no body is in charge of them. Commercial planes use makeshift airports without requesting any permission to land or take off. Malnutrition and diseas are are claiming a high toll daily. This is a real mess.

I lost ownership of my soul

My body is not mine
It is the property of everybody
Somebody claims to be in charge
but nobody respects his authority
Like a tree in the wild forest
any bird can come and land on me
It balances itself on a dry twig
sings and dances in the fresh air
drops a shit, picks pure honey
and off it departs
I am a piece of land
in the heart of darkness
I need a government to reclaim my body
I need a government to readjust myself
in an environment of peace and freedom
I need a government to put my shattered pieces back again
I need my parts to be together again
People in Mbagathi talks, please,
Would you speed up the process
or the whole business is just a Show Biz?
Like Regis has said, what can we say but "sorry"... but it may sound so hollow unless we can follow it up with positive action. We can pro-actively pray for change to happen; we can pro-actively seek to become aware and enlightened as to the reality of world situations around us; we can pro-actively seek to add our voice and pressure to those who represent us at national level to work for global changes. But, for today and tomorrow, you and your countrymen suffer the plight of being a launch-and-landing pad, whilst others come and go at will to other chosen destinations and lifestyles of their choosing. Poverty might truly be described as "no choices" and total disempowerment. My heart bleeds with yours as I read this and I feel humbled. I am sorry that my brothers and sisters have to suffer such feelings of indignity and neglect. Thank you, and please continue to open my eyes in this way. Kate xx

My prayers for you and your countrymen are for peace and prosperity brought aboout by men living harmoniously with each other. that is my dream. Try not to despair, and keep the faith. Unfortunately in the final analysis it is the most powerful thing we have. Keep writng and educating .
