Somalia has been without a government for 14 years. Many schools were opened but each school adopted a different curriculum. Those who brought education back to the normal stream deserve praise but their failure to put education into a national perspective is a case of major concern.
In this beautiful city of Mogadishu
There are hundreds of schools
Each one has its own curriculum
None of them reflects our needs
They were all borrowed from outside
Mostly they came from moslem nations
Arabic is the medium of Instruction
Our mother toungue is rarely taught
Children do not know their country
They do not know their history either
They do not know their national anthem
They instead know other songs and cultures
They do not know our beloved heroes
They do not know what freedom means
Our education has no national goals
I worry much about our new generation
My five children go to different schools
They can't help each other in home assignment
Each one do not know what the other is reading
So they always have grave differences
I am their focal point to reconcile them
They are growing up in the same house
Yet they are living in different worlds
I worry much about our new generation.

Yes, indeed it is a looming disaster. More than that, I believe, it is here. The situation in your country sounds dire, and yet, I believe that there is a silver lining, as the world approaches the brink, the most basic truths of our lives become the driving force and family and God become the glue which pulls it all back together.
Would you rather Italian and English were the medium, Abdi? And colonial history the only history your children knew? As for the lack of Somali, we can't blame that on Arabic, or perhaps we should???
Abdi.Abdi, Abdi, What can I do except scream and agonize for you and yours. I pray that you will stay strong for your family and for your nation. You are one of Somalia's true treasures and the only one I feel I know. You are hope in a hopeless situation for not just Somalia but for all who sleep during this most dangerous watch. Bless you my brother.
Abdi Noor it is such a worrisome time in our world today. Each nation is facing huge problems and finding nowhere to go for help. Like Andre said the UN is a disastr that is now being shown to the world for how corrupt it is. And that's supposed to be the leader and help for all nations! So we are in a bad way, along with Somalia. Our woorld needs to unite in prayers, but will we do it?

My question: Aren't the majority of the people of Somalia led by RELIGION LORDS?
SHOULD the people of Somalia thank The United Nations and its Five Permanent Members of the U.N. Security Council? Should the people of Somalia send econmiastic letters to "Mr. Slaughter" and Mr. Secretary General of United the Nations?
