From the website of Somalitalk.com I read a horrible story about a girl raped by gunmen in the village of Mayle in Mudug region of central Somalia. I contacted the author of the story Mr. Amin Yusuf Khasaro in Mogadishu and kindly requested him to take me to the girl’s place. Fortunately I met with the patient Deeqa Mohamed Muse and had a little chat with her. What amazed me so much was the courage she was showing to visitors who came to share the problem with her. At first when my eyes fall upon her I got deeply absorbed into strong emotional feelings fitting so well on her face. Her eyes sparked off flame of dignity though they were weeping in the shadow of misery. Thanks to those who sent some cash to Deeqa to cover her daily expenses.
LIKE EVERY BABY DEEQA WAS BORN FREE
BUT SHE WAS NOT BORN FREE CULTURALLY
INSIDE A TRIBAL PRISON SHE WAS DELIVERED
IN POLLUTED AIR OF ABUSE SHE WAS RAISED
SHE EVER LIVED IN A SITUATION OF TORTURE
HER SOUL MADE DEEP CRACKS AS SHE GREW
SHE IS FROM A TRIBE CALLED “MADHIBAAN”
HER IDENTITY MADE HER SOFT FOR ABUSE
SOME MONTHS AGO HER PAIN WAS DOUBLED
DEEQA WAS RAPED IN THE FOREST BY 4 MEN
THEY MUTILATED HER PRIVATE PARTS
NOT WITH THEIR ORGANS OR MANHOOD
BUT WITH A SPEAR AND SHARP BAYONET
EVERYWHERE WAS MADE OPEN AND BLEEDING
LIQUID FOODS DON’T GO INTO DIGESTION
THEY JUST PASS AS THEY MOVE DOWN
HER ONLY DINING ROOM IS THE TOILET
DOCTORS RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATE EVACUATION
THEY HAVE NO ADEQUATE FACILITY TO HELP
MANY COMMITTED TO PAY MEDICAL EXPENSES
BUT NO ONE HAS YET COME TO HER RESCUE
LET’S PRAY FOR DEEQA TO GET A SPONSOR
When I think I have no more tears for what is happening in the world one more horror emerges. I harbor mixed feelings for cultures which denigrate women and wonder if mankind will ever be whole. God has blessed you with a spirit of love and compassion my dear friend Abdi Noor! I'm so sad for what humanity is doing to Creator's precious resources. All of them the rape of the planet! The rape of His precious children! I cry out like Rachel my tears falling like blood on the ground for enough people of enlightenment to come together to rid the planet of it's horrors.To remember the Creator's plan. The point blank way in which you deliver this tale of horror sharpens it to a type of psychic spear that penetrates the heart of compassionate readers. I will pray. The extent to which humans go to prove they are worse sometimes than savage beasts continues to astonish me. Thank you for sharing this Abdi-Noor and for reminding us that true life terror is sometimes beyond what we can imagine and to consider that perhaps if we strived to always imagine into action acts of love instead of acts of horror then we may have hope of growing to the loving beings God intended.
What is coming of this world, I ask?! So many horrors? Don't people have souls anymore? Don't they feel? They have already left emotional scars on her, why did they have to scar her physically for life? Evil animals!
Your heart is true, Abdi-Noor. What a sad and devastating thing that has happened to Deeqa. I hope that your vioce is heard and someone steps up to help her.
