In those days of the past
When the world had two powers
People were divided between rulers
They were either with the east or west
Anyone found in between was at risk
Artists were the most vulnerable group
They were under constant surveillance
Their works had to undergo censorship
The sun didn't shine so well for them
When one of the powers bit the sand
When the clouds of anarchy passed over
A glimmer of hope dawned in their hearts
But no sooner did they enjoy freedom
Than it disappeared like a fading color
September 11 arrived to shock the world
Invisible divisions created among people
In both sides of the line we have artists
Some are out in the open to raise their voice
Others know the truth but can't express
They hide behind their dark ink tubes
Artistis intimidated with such words as:
If you are not with us you are with them
Is That Fair?
Tell me where in today's world you belong to?
Terrorists or Poverty Creators?

an artist shouldn't be intimidated by anyone but him/herself and not be fit into any category ... she/he should create the will of his/her heart and soul mo matter what the world thinks ...
Artists belong right where you are. It is up to you, as an artist, to paint the realities of war...and the hopes for peace. If more people see your works, lives will be changed.

Where do artists belong? IMHO Brother Abdi at the forefront of truth, provoking thought and we hope creditable action. I don't believe there is any group which can truly contain the true artist for he/she is free as long as they have breath. Peace and blessings ...Stay strong!! Mikii

I consider myself as an artist, and I don't care to belong in any groups. I belong to myself. I show my art the way I think in my head. I write the way I think in my head. I have no desire to go into politics as it hinders my thoughts on my true art and my true writings.
An artist belongs in front of their canvas, or with pen in hand or with a typewriter on their lap...an artist belongs where he or she can do the most good, and they feel comfortable, as you, poet, do belong where you are at this time in your existence...Ed
