To promote peace we don't need to fight or shed blood of soldiers who were sworn in to protect their motherland. The source of problem is not military; it is poverty. Crime and poverty are inter-related and inter-dependent. Within a country crime rate is high in the impoverished regions and in cities insecurity is high where people deprived of their inalienable rights are concentrated. So it is unwise to incite war while there are other ways to combat insecurity and promote peace. If peace day speeches are not addressing viable strategies to fight terrorism then it is just waste of time and resources. In some gatherings there are no peace updates to know the extent peace has been promoted or achieved at a global scale so as to know where the wall of peace has made cracks to avoid eventual collapse.
Today is the UN Peace Day 21 September 2005. In this poem WAR is invited to make a speech at the UN headquarters in NY where the UN Peace Day ceremony is being held. So war has been requested to come and air his views and grievances about peace. The World body used to listen only one side of the story. Now they want to know what accusations is MR. War levelling against Peace. So Mr. WAR escorted by his top aides, Disease and Despair, came to deliver a speech, warning Peace to stop her maneuvers to plot him.

My father is ignorance
Out of terror I was born
My name is simply WAR

You invited me to come

Stop these advances please
Don't flirt with me please

World hunger zones are my strongholds
They are my springboards of attack
Illiteracy is my weapon of terror

The problem lies in getting enough people educated to understand it and to have reasoned dialog that does not put selfish ego and political agenda first, but rather looks for solutions for all the people, not just favored factions.
