As a result of chaos and civil strife in Somalia, the country has become divided into different fragments. In the North we have the break away Republic of Somali-land which seceded from the rest of Somalia. It is stable. They have currently held elections to set up their parliament through democratic process. International observers reported no voting irregularities.

That was a lesson to their brethren in the South who only know how to shoot in the event of contesting a leadership post or otherwise disagree over the person they had elected. In the South the one year old government and the parliament are now split into two wings, not able to sort out their differences through peaceful means. This poem shows how a young boy is lured to fight in a tribal war to defend his tribe and leader.

You are my tribe boy
You are my clan boy
You are my sub-clan boy
You are my sub-sub-clan boy
You are the pride of this clan boy

Join my camp boy
Fight for me boy
Lick enemy up boy
Lift me up boy

Be my gunman boy
Be my militia boy
Be my fighter boy
Bring me vicory boy

I am your warlord boy
Defend me bravely boy
Defend the chief boy
Defend the tribe boy

Eat and drink boy
Chew the Miraa boy
Dance with the wind boy
Hide behind the smoke boy

Fight the war boy
Live with joy boy
Die a martyr boy
Drink from heaven boy

Give me your blood boy
But not too much boy
A jerican is enough boy
Please shed it for me boy

Boy
If I were in breakaway Somali-Land
I would ask you to vote for me boy
But Unfortunately I am in the South

Here we have a rule boy
Balloting NO
Bulletting YES

How tragic Brother Abdi and the real shame is that it is always the boys who pay the ultimate cost for the folly of their elders. Peace, love, and blessings. Stay strong .

It’s said that idleness is the parent of all vice. By and large, this proverb applies to the poem. Unfortunately, a significant number of young persons, through their own idleness, have lost their innocence in Somalia, where there is no central authority, educational system or suitable occupation. Thus they, with very little sense of hope, easily fall prey to warlords who fulfill their physiological needs, use and exploit them (THERE'S NO FREE LUNCH) and continually feed them false hopes.

Abdi-Noor: Keep up, carry on, please do not concede.

A powerful poem depicting the horrendous environment and confusion these innocent children are forced to live with. Their innocense soon lost to the mentality of the warlords. Another burdened
but necessary write from you Abdi Noor. God bless you for your faithfulness to God, family and country.May it soon be one in peace!

Love and peace,
Eileen

Truly tragic that far too often our innocent children are asked to become like many of us guilty adults - far too soon in life.

Fantastic, simple, yet creative in its scope concerning the tragedy in your land. It seem that the world over it usually winds up being "them" against "us," and that is an awful thing to have to live down. My prayers are with you in these troubled times.
