In my country girls are circumcised and infibulated at a tender age of five or six. Among other problems they undergo a life long physical and psychological pain. It is called FGM which stands for Female Genital Mutilation. I wrote this poem after visiting Dr. Osman's arts at www.osmanart.net
Knives shining and sharp
Midwife rushes for duty
A painful cut is eminent
Girl sheds a tear of pain
She pleads with circumciser
But only receives cruel looks
Eyes lacking mercy glare upon
Her private parts get mutilated
Blood mixes with tears on the sand
Girl lies on a mat with her legs tied
Stitched
Infibulated
Body let to grow on body
FGM strict version done
Passage made too small
Girl finds urination difficult
Menstruation difficult too
Sex difficult difficult
Has the girl done anything wrong?
Nothing
Just a victim of culture she is
Barbaric
FGM is a crime
Stop it please
Stop it now
Please, please, for women and children's sakes, please continue to speak out against this terrible practice. You may have saved many thousands of lives--God, I hope so. Thank you, (((Brother))).
(((HUGS))) and love, and many, many prayers, your sister, Karla.
This is extremely painful to read even though I knew about this practice. Thank you for preaching against a barbaric practice that should be immediately abolished, Abdi-Noor. Love and peace to you,
How utterly meaningless is this barbaric custom. It shows the ignorance of the people who perform it. Nothing stops people from having sex unless they are dead, in this century your people should be aware of this, but it shows hoe little they have learned because of the repressive form of non-government warlords that rule without knowledge or wisdom but only by their guns and greedy need for power.
Keep writing Abdi noor! You are the hope of the future!
Serial killer Ted Bundy's murders recounted from the perspective of thirty years after his execution in a Florida prison.
Brutal, compelling, with new updated facts about the case, his victims and the compulsions that drove Ted Bundy to mass murder.
(((HUGS))) and love, and many, many prayers, your sister, Karla.
