This is a tribute to the International Commission for the Red Cross (ICRC)and its sister agency of Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS)for their efforts to save hundreds of thousands of Somalis during the early years of 90's when war and famine claimed the lives of vulnerable communities in all regions of Somalia.

Winds changed
Weapons fired
War erupted
Weeks passed

Men killed
Women raped
Villages burned
Farms destroyed

Seed banks looted
Families displaced
But In the eye of despair
Fire of hope flickered

Feeding camps opened
Food supply delivered
Flahes of smile emitted
Flags flapped in the air

They treated our mothers
They have won our hearts
They are relief champions
They are ICRC and SRCS

It is very thoughtful and marvelous of you to give tribute to them! They deserve to be recognized by us all for their performance in times of need, they are always there, no matter the circumstance. Thank you Abdi Noor!

Wonderful tribute to the Red Cross this was a very sad time in your countries history a time of devastation. The country still is in much need and struggling. Prayers and thoughts extend .
Thank you for posting this one.

What a wonderful tribute, y e s ~!!! So easy to look at the horror -- or rather, be forced to look away ~~ , but you have looked at the
good that came out. Are using your talents to inspire others to look.
Hopefully, more will pile good on good. Myself, I am saving for another contribution to ICRC. Need to cut back on inessentials, and
after reading this, believe I will!! Peace, Love, Freedom, Prosperity, and Equal Rights and Opportunities for All. Phyllis
