Jack loves Jane to extent that he wishes to be her umbrella to protect her from snow and enjoy the warmth of her tender touch. Jane steps on ice and loses her control a little bit, her fingers hardening the grip on the umbrella.
Jane lost balance
Jack cursed the ice
He wished to be her umbrella
To shelter her from the rain
And to feel her tender grip
As she stumbles over a crooked ice

I didn't understand the last line. I'm so sorry, my mind is still not so clear after my mother's passing. I couldn't explain the last line being there. Was Jane dead already?
