Leaders of the world, especially those in the developing countries are corrupt beyond imagination. In Africa the situation is much worse. We can not dream of development and progress unless we first find a solution for this problem.
Corruption is a social disease
It corrodes the national fiber
It must be eradicated totally
Between the poor and the rich
It makes an unfair difference
It widens the gap unimpressively
It brings the unfit at the top
Puts the right one at the bottom
Plays havoc on the nation's economy
Police commission is set up to curb
But only the small fish are caught
The big ones keep swimming freely
They have a cover to protect them
They are the hen that lay golden eggs
The arm of justice can not reach them
They are an open sore in our neck
The wound runs deeper as they loot
In the soul of the poor they are a pain
To change the situation
An entire makeover is needed
Where do we start?

You know, that fact that someone asks the question you have is a great start- I think people sometimes think we can just throw money at problems when the people never actually see the moeny- as you wrote it must go much deeper than that, and the sad part is that some do not want to do the work that requires because the supposed "easy" way out, is just that. Excellent, as always. You give this site a better social concious.
Powerful and perfectly right! Education is the answer! Starting with the lowest masses and right through until we get people to understand that the fault lies with us in not being educated enough to make right choices, in the people we elect as leaders! Also the people we buy from. We do have a choice, when you see that the conglomerations that buy up and own almost everything, we think there is no place else to go. But there always is. We go where everyone else goes because we want what everyone else has. If we could trim back our "wants" focus on our "needs" consumers can become shopper savvy, and find small businesses where they may pay a little more, but in the long run it will be less if more people shop there and the big monopolies realize they are losing customers. We have to be wise in our choices and that takes not only education, but dicipline, and doing without some of the "wants" That is where we begin! But will we do it? That's another question! ...Excellent thought provoker Abdi Noor!
