Somalia hasn't suffered only from physical obliteration but also has undergone a severe ethical disaster. Somalia like many other African countries needs profound changes that are both fundamental and historical.

A destroyed nation can be rebuilt no matter how severe the destruction is. But people who wallowed into moral emptiness can hardly be saved. Education can be one option to rebuild the dismantled moral fabric of the society. But still that is not enough to produce a new generation with desirable social behaviors. Children could be sent to school but the impact their community has on them far outweighs the effects education can have on them. It is like drinking from a clean well for few hours while returning to consume water from a community well which is polluted with tribalism, revenge, hatred and backwardness. This is a typical portrait of many countries devastated by war like my homeland Somalia. I propose three steps to be taken with the aim of solving the problem:

Step One
Let tribal politics be abolished in Africa

Step Two:
Let power be sought through peaceful means

Step Three:
Let the Pen take over from the gun

Let us not forget the reinforcing agents of:
Vision, Ambition and Courage
Without them there is no hope to make a change.
