You plant a tree, irrigate it with muscle and sweat and when it bears fruits you ask people to come an eat them. That is what is happening in our education sector. Children go to school and when they finish we have no plans for them as the nation's institutional set up has been dismantled. So we lose them to foreign countries that can give them employment and take advantage of this ripe fruit which the wind had tossed to their side of the world. If this situation continues like this over the coming 20 or 30 years what will happen to this country which already has more than a million people staying in other countries on refugee status while twice of that number are displaced within the country.
In the rubbish strewn roads of my city
I see children rushing to their school
They are flowers of the education tree
They have ambitions to rebuild Somalia
But Somalia has no working government
Its children are growing up without a future
Upon finishing school they go abroad
That is their only hope to get employment
That is their only hope to continue studies
We have no capacity to make plans
We have no capability to absorb our intellectuals
Fruits of joy and hope are being wasted
Somalia has become a river of anarchy
Washing its resources down into oceans of terror
So very sad, Abdi-Noor. At this point, things look very dim for Somalia and her possible recovery. If your own people won't stay to make the changes, change will come very slowly if ever at all. How I admire you for not taking on an attitude of futility and apathy.

I see a community of children grown up to become tree-planters and cultivators of education, keepers of the flame of hope. Raise your voice, Abdi-Noor, and others will join you and soon the tide will turn. And if it does not, still you have held high the truth of what fruit is lost when apathy and anarchy reign. Dawn
So sad Abdi Noor! This is what causes civil wars, but it doesn't seem like enough people care in your country to overthrow the warlords. On the other hand when other nations try to help like what is happening in Iraq, everyone condemns us. It seems we can't win in this bitterly divided world of confusion. That is why Creator must intervene again, as He did when He gave us a Savior, but no one knows when...Blessings to you and yours...
