When you smell threat at a close range you must do something immediately even if it takes you to get out of the country and leave your family behind. Becasue stepping back from the line of fire would give you chance to re-unite with the family somewhere outside the country. But if you insist staying with them the chances are that all of you may fall in the fathomless pits of war and insecurity.

In the ocean of life I seldom swim nicely
I have no fears of getting drowned
But sometimes
Without even going too far into the sea
I feel unsafe in the seemingly safe waters
Instictively I sense the presence of sharks
But I am torn apart between two friends
One is my head and it wants me to leave
The other is my heart and it wants me to stay
I should go with my head this time
I should retreat to shores of safety
Good bye my heart

What a most beautifully written poem of being torn apart by love and the need to save oneself for future good. My heart goes out to you dear friend! Please stay safe! I'll keep the situation in thoughts and prayer!

this is a wonderful poem...I remember reading awhile back of how you had to leave for awhile. I can feel the struggle in this poem and the sad resignation. I hope that you are not having to go through this again. As always, Godspeed, Abdi-Noor.

I think we must all retreat to those shores of safety once in awhile, Abdi-Noor.
