Islamic Jihad is nothing more than a Christian crusade and both religions must co-exist in peace and tolerance to avoid clashes that might lead a disaster to the world as it happened in the old days of religious wars. The Pope's recent views about Islam and Jihad have been received with shock in the Islamic world. I think if a journalist had made such remarks there would have been no uproar in the Moslem community. A spiritual leader and head of the Roman Catholic Church is supposed to extinguish fire rahter than being the eye of the fire.

When the new Pope had pulled the wrong strings
I did not hear the Pope's comments, but I would hope that in translation, something was misunderstood. There is nothing in the Catholic or any Christian teachings that I am aware of, that tells us not to respect Muslims or any other religions. We are told to love one another, no matter our differences. God is the Creator of us all, no matter what name He is given.

Abdi Noor, My feeling is that when we truly love our Creator, there aren't supposed to be any lines! That is where the fault lies, in keeping ourselves behind lines.Blessings to you and yours...
all religions have lost the insight of their prophets and are the cause of the world's malaise ... isn't that the "devil's" intention, to separate mankind through his religious beliefs ... seems to be working ...

Purposly misinterpreting anything that is said for self gain, and
to justify their hatred.
The root of all this seems to be mans fear of death...
"Please feel free to raise your voice in support of peace, no matter which side of the spiritual line you may happen to be." - The problem stems, precisely, from the insistence upon the concept of “sides of a line” by all who claim to believe, after all, that “there is only one God”.

Are you living in today's world? Apart from the fact that the Pope has already apologized formally for the misinterpretation, he clearly stated that he respects Islam whose God is our God. You people love to take a quote out of contest and make mountains out of mole hills. There have been no crusades for ages on the part of the Catholic faith. Yours is still going on.
In view of what transpired after the quote he spoke of, shows the hatred that exists in the muslim community where it is ok to burn others churches and condem a man of peace whose words were meant to heal rather than divide. Any religion that preaches violence, as the muslim extreamists have shown, is doomed to failure. But I'm beginning to feel there will never be peace in a religion that has been hijacked by thugs and murderers whose aim is to rule by force and subjugate those it hates.
