Peace
Why do you look so weary and exhausted?
Why do you look so drained and worn-out?
You were supposed to dress very neatly
But I can see you in tattered costumes
You have the same clothes you were wearing
When clerics delivered you from warlords
What happened to you my dear love?
Why can't you change once you are freed
Peace says:
I thank so much to the Sharia Courts
I have a breathing space and a respite
There is no chaos or strife raging on
But I lack all mechanisms of protection
Without justice I can not survive
I see no police in the streets
There are no prisons in the city
I am prone to all types of crimes
I can be easily swept into pits of war
If clerics don't pay attention to my plea
I might fall back in the hands of terror
Like bits and pieces of shattered hearts
I'm floating in the winds of lost dreams

This is true brother. Unless the Islamic courts come up with a structured plan of cation to bring justice, law and order to the capital, we will waste this opportunity. It is already evident that the system is starting to be misused for self-gain and to settle tribal scores in some parts of Somalia. I hopr leaders of the Islamic courts come up with leadership with vision.
I agree with Victor - KPeace will be accommplished by conversion one person and one family at a time. We must all work toward that end if we wish to have peace in our world accomplished. It is a work of great magnitude.
I love how you gave Peace persona. I had not thought of it that way before reading your poem, but she must truly be weary...and dependant on our prayers. Thank you for this beauty.
This strikes a chord, as I recall the Woman who was raped, ( not sure which country) but who was deemed to be unfaithful and as a result sentenced to death, after the baby was born. I never did find out the outcome, though I have a fair idea!
Shocking and seriously sickening. Peace will come, though not fast enough for many of us who desire it so.
