The Somali National University which was the mother of somalia's higher eduction instititutions is now out of the world acdemic map as it was destroyed in the civil war that had been raging on in Somalia over the past 16 years.

I toured the demolished university building
Roads are filthy and rubbish strewn
Large swathes reduced to huge rubble
Its colleges gone with winds of war
On walking its collapsed walls and roof
I found a sign board buried in the ash
I tried to fix it where it stood before
I felt like a bird on a heifer's back
Which is unaware that the cow is dead
But continue nursing it by removing the tick
