Sometime in the second quarter of the year 2006 I traveled to Ethiopia and found the country rich in many things and poor in many more things. In this poem I just express my feelings and impressions about our neighbor country
Abdi Noor you gave us a succinct but good look at the paradox of Ethopia. Sadly it is the same in too many countries. It makes me wonder what kind of people are so quick to keep all the wealth for themselves and turn their backs on the rest of their countrymen. This happens the world over, and I'm saddened that so many people can be so greedy and uncaring of others. Thanks for sharing.
Ethiopia is a perfect example of poverty and plenty living under the same roof and a government that is not concerned with taking care if its impoverished. It is a place of beauty and of the worst kind of ugliness. All of Africa needs revamping because the rich have all the control and the poor are too sick to change it. Even if someone should have a voice, it is only a short period of time before he/she will probably die from living in such filthy and inhumane conditions. Excellent poem of contrast, Abdi-Noor.
Take care,
Sherry
