Somalia is a homogeneous nation in Africa though there are cetain communities whose skin color is lighter than others and who have a distinct dialect when speaking Somali language.
People of same culture
People of same religion
People of same language
People of same tradition
People of same roots
People of same origins
People of same background
People of same ethnic group
People of Same identity
Of same cushitic lineage
Yet differ in many ways
Fighting to kill each other
People of the same blood
Whose bloods never mix
Who look down each other
Who are tribal extremists
Waht is wrong with my people?
People with many resources
with a very long coastline
With huge livestock potentiality
With enormous mineral deposits
Yet die from disease and hunger
Surviving with donor assistance
Living below the poverty line
What is wrong with my people?
I often wonder why people who live under one roof - the earth - have to fight each other.
If all the nations the world could live as one, how wonderful it would be. There prbably will not be any poverties, nor will there be any sufferings. Why can't people do that?
Not all of the people are bad; only the ones put in charge, the greedy warmongers who only serve themselves and forget the people they are supposed to lead....thought provoking excellence in heartbreaking verse!
It is education Abdi Noor. That is always the reason tyrants can take over so easily. They are more clever and know how to dominate and prey on the uneducated. Excellent query poem, keep writing!

What is wrong with my people?
All of us could ask the same question pertaining to our own nation..it seems all nations have a similar attitude ..let's trust that better times are ahead..
