I may leave for a country in Europe in the coming weeks if things work my way. Before i return from my trip I hope things will settle down in my chaotic country.
This heap of money is my salary
Every month I draw that amount
Rich is what you think of me?
If so you are wrong.
I am among the poorest
This money is only few 100 US dollars
When converted to Somali currency
It will take the size of a small hill
Behind it you can hide from hunger
But never can it shelter you from poverty
Taking a break from war is a necessity
But the thought of returning to it is painful
The more you run away from reality
The more its shadows give you a chase
Inflation! What a beautiful poem! It is sad that our the Somali currency is very wothless. Even worse is the fact that we do not have change! The only note that is working is the 1000 Shilling note! No one accepts the 500, 100, 50, 20, 10, or the 5 shilling notes and coins were long forgotten in Somalia. Nothing costs less than 1000, even candies!
