Occasional flare-ups often suspend vaccination activities which make the overall coverage very low. Only the lucky few would be innoculated if at all the vaccinators get access to the children. It is a crime to deny children the right to be immunized and protected from killer diseases.
Somalia is a mourning nation
It is saddened by the loss of its children
They die from preventable diseases
They are victims of measles and polio
Of whooping cough and Diphtheria
Of Tetanus and Tuberculosis
The vaccination coverage is low
Not because of vaccine shortage
But because of warlord problem
From thousands of miles away
Some one sends vaccines to Somalia
But someone else within the country
Denies them to reach the target child
Can you imagine?
Dear Brother Abdi-Noor would that all of the warlords would go onto a field without their followers and rid Somalia and the world of such monsters. So very sad. PLB&G for caring and sharing. Stay strong. Love always, Mik-N-Baba.
I know that at one point, UNICEF had vaccinated most of the children in Africa, but since that time, politics has gotten in the way and they are no longer able to get the vaccine to those who have not yet been innoculated. What a sad situation that is...the vaccine is available, but the children are sentenced to death. Lord! have mercy on the souls of these babes and fie! upon the hand of the devils who leave the children in harm's way.
