India Rising is a BBC series entirely devoted to the impressive economic leap this country of more than one billion people had made.
Well over one billion
With a booming economy
India is Rising
Sending singals of hope
To those who lack hope
But in a world of war
Of terrorism and crime
Of hunger and disease
Of contest and rivalry
Of greed and avarice
India must be rising
Inside a falling world
But still India must rise
Its rise is a message of hope
To those who lost hope over
As long as their is life, there is hope. Awfully sad about those steeped in corruption! I pray that India will continue to rise so that all will rise in hope along with her.

Abdi_Noor, India is such a mixture, and has tolerated poverty and suffering amongst her own people; can she rise to become a 'light on the hill' for the oppressed and suffering of the world? Or will she continue to tolerate corruption and perhaps even bigotry?

But I don't feel it has risen enough. Apart from the fact that it still believes that some people are inferior, there is still a lot of intollerance and disease amongst the millions of poor. Victor
