Somali hospitals deserve both local and international help as they won the admiration and sympathy of the people for their selfless effort to save the patients at a time when there is war and diseases of epidemic proportions in the country.
This is a hospital
With few rooms
And few beds
With few medicine
And few supplies
Yet on daily basis
Take many patients
Sometimes as many
As hundred or more
Admitted patients
Live in shortage
Under a thorny tree
They spread a mat
Sharing the shade
Sharing the drugs
As the hospital itself
Is a weeping patient
suffering from drug shortage
Unable to respond adequately
To patients partly wounded
In the city’ ritual cross-fire
And partly victimized by
A Cholera pandemic
raging like a bush fire
Across a nation
plaqued by wars
It is a hospital of difference
In desperate need of medical drugs
Hospitals in Somalia should be recognized for their commitment to save life at all costs. In America, it is unimaginable for a hospital to exist without sending any bills to health insurance companies or patients, or even without federal help. In Somalia, no one has medical insurance, no one has sufficient income to pay for medical expenses, and there is no federal government to help hospitals. It is a miracle that these hospitals continue to exist despite the hardships.

And here in the states, we have so much and refuse to care for those with no insurance...we could learn a lesson in what doctoring is about. All they care about here is money...sad. They've forgotten patient care. And y'all perform miracles with so little, except compassion for your fellowman. An excellent, excellent write, well done!
