At the junction of Bar Ubax near the Xareed Mosque in Mogadishu, Somalia, there sits a girl who sells pastry in the scorching heat of Mogadishu without a shade, a stall or an umbrella. Anytime I greet her I come to know that disability is not inability as Abdullai said in one of his recent poems.
She is poor and disabled
But she has a rich heart
Smart and shining brightly
Her face radiates with joy
Flashing out smiles of hope
Offering love and compassion
To hearts filled by greed
And stitch tattered dreams
With the thread of peace
While mending broken minds
With integrity and confidence
I love her vitality and courage

Abdi-Noor, to have peace and courage is the brightest side of humanity. A ovely poem; thank you for lifting me from the materialism that infects our world. Give my blessings to that lovely girl; she deserves so much from this life, and in the life to come.
Blessings, my friend, Fergus (and I am full of hope, as you will see!)
this poetic portrait really touched me, Abdi-Noor. her abilities have much to teach of us of ourselves. wonderful writing and I agree so much with your admiration for her integrity, confidence, vitality and courage. Dawn
Thank you very much for honoring the efforts of this disabled girl. I can see her, through your poem, sitting near a dusty street with no shade/shelter from the very hot sun in Mogadishu. It is really sad that a lot of our resources are to maximize killing and destruction in Somalia. Somalia is a very rich country: oil reserves, the longest coastline in Africa, fish, wildlife, livestock, fertile land that does not depend on seasons, and all year warm weather are just a few to name. All these resources remain unexploited while our children suffer in the hands of our leaders.
Thank you very much brother for sharing this one. I appreciate the courage of that young girl. Probably, she is the bread-winner for her family.
A seamstress of the heart! The work that she does with her smile and love alone is something that most fully functioning men and women are incapable of! She has touched my heart through you and I thank you.
God bless you for noticing this young lady who is trying to make a living despite her "disability." The disabled who work have a strong work ethic, because they know they are dependable employees (even though they have to prove themselves). A beautiful, compassionate poem--please give her love and prayers from America. :)

New Poetry by Abdi-Noor Haji Mohamed (Eagle Of Hope)
These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .

The Harvest of Souls Crossover is a story that is exciting, vigorous, and full of suspense about the fight of good and evil in two realms, the light and dark world. The Howdy Family is determined to defeat the world of darkness, led by the seemingly

She sounds like a truly marvelous soul, Abdi-Noor.
