The capital city of Somalia
The city of peace and love
The bedrock of our stability
The core of national unity
The Mogadishu of yesterday
The city of stunning beaches
Of beautiful oceans and shores
Of serene skies and soft winds
Of historic sites and monuments
Of merry laughter and enjoyment
Of smiles fitting on innocent faces
The Mogadishu of today
The city of chaos and strife
The river of gloom and sadness
Bursting to its banks with rage
Turning over floods of dejection
Sweeping away pleasure and joy
Leaving behind sediments of pain
The Mogadishu of today
The city of grief and melancholy
Enveloped with a cloud of misery
Overflowing with heaps of tragedy
Filled by sounds of wailing souls
Possessed by ghosts of indignity
Dying in the depths of its rubble
Trapped in a web of living terror
With dead bodies littered around
Whose stink is quite unbearable
As bullets keep ricocheting over
And tanks rumble around like tractors
With little hope to put itself back to itself
the picture above is so different from what we are seeing now. it is heartbreaking. your poetry shows us the difference even without the picture. stay safe.
Where and Why, have we all taken such a wrong road, these extremely sad days. And I truly hope both you and your beloved Mogadishu are once more able to somehow find brighter ones.
This one hurts. Where did Mogadishu go, where did all of the cities we once knew and loved and lived go? Mankind has mucked it all up with their damned war games, their greed: God help us all.
