Somali passport is not recognized by almost all nations of the world. so if you seek visa from them they wont accept your travel documents. They demand change of passport as otherwise they don't issue a visa for you. Those who are friendlier to us give you papers to travel but never stamp a visa on your passport because they consider it illegal as it has not been produced by a recognized government. I am a Somali. I am robbed of my identity. Warlords have not only killed people but they also robbed of their identity.
We have no nation
We are stateless
We have no state
We are nationless
We have no country
We only have lands
We have no people
We only have tribes
We have no offices
We have no records
We have no ID cards
We have no papers
Whenever we cross borders
We are just illegal movers
We end up in police cells
Our passports lost validity
People forge travel documents
Only to fall into pits of crime
We can never visit a country
Unless we change our identity
I am allowed to be a Somali
Only when I stay in Somalia
My identity loses its identity
As it expires soon as I depart
This is a pure loss of identity
Caused by a loss of nationhood
Thankfully, you know who you are, my friend. And so do many of us in Author's Den. And may much brighter days soon arrive on your horizon.
