It is with great pleasue to inform you that I have been granted a visa to travel to Sweden. I shall attend an International Conference which covers a wide range of issues of great International concern.
I am booked to travel on 17 November 2007. I wish to meet any AD member staying in Sweden. Please contact me through nuuru2003.hotmail.com. I shall stay there for a week after which time I return to somalia to continue duties as a social worker in a war-torn nation.
In Mogadishu i leave behind so many ugly images and horrible scenes. But within chaos i seldom find solace as i visit a hill near the ocean, far from the sound of gunfire where I sit to write inspirational poems. Most of my other poetry is done under appalling conditions of insecurity and bloodshed and that is why they seldom unleash some unbearable feelings of pain and horror.
That green hill
overlooking the sea
Is my favourtie retreat
It is where I take seat
When writing poems
I shall teribly miss it
Hope Sweden shall offer
Better views and scenes
More serene than I can imagine
Your journey has been blessed and I know you will be able to accomplish some of your goals, even if they are small. It is said that "a journey of a thousand miles begins with one small step."
