Corruption is a seed of evil that germinates in the dampened soil of bureaucracy
Bureaucracy breeds corruption
Heaps of papers await signing
The in-coming tray is so full
The out-going one is full too
People line up in a long cue
But boss is away in a meeting
Upon return he signs coupons
He is a big man for small things
I am a public servant, not a bureaucrat. Unfortunately, I know too many bureaucrats; they are found in government, big business, media, even in charities. The difference? Public servants are there to serve the public; medical patients, civil engineers, water management experts (like me!) who want to bring change and believe in the public interest. God save us from the uncaring, non-performing bureaucrat!
I think this is true world wide. I very sadly worked for such a bureacracy for almost 30 years, and nothing ever got done. The Bosses would call meeting after endless meeting, praising their great accomplishments, and always getting huge Performance Awards year after endless year - and Nothing Ever Got Done.
