When a person comes from a war torn country he needs to undergo immediate trauma check up and subsequent treatment to allow him/her to enjoy life. Thanks

If you walk behind me
I keep looking back at you
I feel markedly suspicious

If you walk beside me
You go into my nerves
I feel excessively tense

If you walk in front of me
I just lose sight of myself
I feel awfully depressed

If you come across me
I swallow all of myself
I feel you shoot me

If you come in a group
Fear bubbles me inside
I feel trapped, captured

If you ask me a question
I dive for a cover in my mind
I think you are hurting me

If you share a word with me
I shall not take it serious
Trust is so scarce in my heart

I am a brother in affliction
I am a victim of war trauma
Would you please help me?

I work with a mental health agency and we experience what this poem describes every day. People are suspecious of everything. If asked about their emotional mental problems, they think that they would be injected with poison or medication to make them crazy. If they are left alone, they are sleepless, powerless, hopeless. If they are interviewed in their homes, they feel provoked. If a diagnostic assessment is done at a doctor's office, they think they are being taken hostage. It is as complex as Abdinoor described it. Bravo brother

Abdi Noor you have such keen perception that shows us how difficult it is to recover from the horrors of war! Thank you,and God bless you and all who must go through this!

Always find it so difficult wny so many must endure such tragedies, not of their own doing and how difficult it can be to adjust to a better life when one is still haunted by horrific memories, well versed....

Be always safe,

"Trauma (Modified)"

Abdi-Noor your penning shines through like a knight in shining amour. "Trauma...." is painfully beautiful and yet I understand the traumatic way that you must feel. Your construction and title was absolutely befitting of the emotional impact this poem relays and gives, true arrows to the heart is what it is.

Wishing you wholeness and peace in your heart,
~Gwendolyn

The only way to go over that emotional quick sands is to have a true friend, a trusted one that both can confide to each other, and help the wounds to heal, the nightmares to vanish, and the certainty of a heart in mending to take over.
