I have been looking for Keynaan´s photo since he was released on 27 August 2008 but unfortunately I could not find it in the internet. So I resorted to post the poem without a photo. Keynaan is a UNHCR official who has been kidnapped by armed militia in Mogadishu which has led to the suspension of aid activities in impoverished, war-torn nation of Somalia. His release has brought joy and hope to the displaced people of Mogadishu whose life depended on food donations.
Captured by kidnappers
Kept hostage for months
Keynaan is free at last
Out of a yawning despair
Hope was born like a moon
Its glow streaked on soul
From the depths of gloom
Bubbles of joy has risen
Stars winked in ecstasy
Trapped in poverty cage
Children began to smile
Food aid has trickled down
there is joy when at last a good thing occurs -- this man's release is certainly one of those special events -- for the positive impact this man will have upon the little children there is always extra joy -- your poem is an emotional event for you that you have so graciously shared with your fellows at the den -- God bless -- JMW
