I can't even imagine how such conflict must feel. But my heart goes out to all who are caught up in this "laboratory of war."

Abdi-Noor, there has been conflict in the Middle East as far back as 1200 B.C. and the battle of Kadesh. That ancient land, the cradle of civilization appears to be the breeding ground for discontent and conflict. It has become the symbol of unrest and distrust between many peoples ancient and new. Therefore, simple solutions and resolution of conflicts are very complex. In the modern era, many outside influences add to the complexity. Israel and the Palestinians cannot resolve all of the issues unless, as John points out, Hamas is included. Knowing their penchant for militarism I see no quick or easy solutions. Radical factions from neighboring countries have made peace all the more difficult. Even if Israel and Palestine could come to a perfect peace scenario, those outside factions and radicals will do their best to drive a wedge in the peace process. And the cycle of failed negotiations will begin anew. I believe that a nation other than the U.S. should be involved as mediator. Certainly not the U.N. who have a record of failure and escalation of hostilities in everything they peruse. They have been little more than the symbol of a grand idea whose application has always been corrupted by their own separate agendas and driven by the politico's corruption.Jon Michael

The Middle East is resource rich; ergo, the Imperial Powers employ a strategy of tension, in order to divide and conquer. The last thing the criminal Anglo-American bankster cartel would ever want is pan-Arab nationalism. So, behind all the empty rhetoric, the killing will always go on until the sands are sucked dry of oil and stripped of all her resources. Trust me, if nothing were there, we wouldn't be there. And then there would be peace. Remember, 90% of all terrorist organizations are funded by Wall Street and the City of London and infiltrated and steered by Western Intelligence, i.e. CIA, MI6, Mossad, BND, ISI, etc. The agenda is to avert peace at all costs. Until people realize this, they are operating in a false paradigm. I might suggest a very informative book on this very subject called "9/11- Synthetic Terror" by Webster Griffin Tarpley. And yes, 9/11 was another professional, military inside job too. Half-retarded patsies with box cutters cannot evade NORAD and bring 3 buildings down in one day. Google Building 7. A 47-story skyscraper falls into its footprint at near free-fall speed and was hit by no airplanes. The NIST claimed it was due to fire. Bollocks. Watch the implosion. Classic controlled demolition. Watch the video. Then ask yourself how long it would take to wire a building in order to bring it down like that. Could they do it in one afternoon? Don't think so. The building housed the NYC Emergency Command Center. Who was in charge of security? Marvin Bush, George Bush's cousin. When did his security contract expire?> You guessed it: 9/11. The book will explain all. 9/11 was only a pre-text to launch perpetual resource wars in the Middle East and Central Asia and to set up the police-state control grid in the US and other Western Nations. Hamas was set up, that's right, set up and funded by Israeli Mossad! Go reserach it. Don't believe me. Truth is stranger than fiction.

You speak the grim truth here, Abdi-Noor, and much as I applaud the current attempt to find a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict I can't see a satisfactory lasting outcome unless and until Hamas is actively engaged.
