A famine series I am writing about, trying to view the tragedy from every angle possible.
Famine is not an epidemic like measles
It canīt break out instantly overnight
It looms over a long period of time
Why hasīt it been detected early enough?
If agencies ignored the signs of famine
Why couldnīt the cameraīs capture them?
I accuse the media
And I Abdi-Noor point the accusatory finger beyond the media to the root cause of every injustice and human crisis, apathy! Until the bite of famine is upon an individuals own belly, few are capable of being moved to action. "It is not my problem" is the pervasive atmosphere of the majority of the civilized world. Those that stand in righteous indignation are too often wolves of greed looking for ways to fatten their own pots in the name of someone else's tragedy. I sight most of the philanthropic league, the ultra rich Middle-East oil sheiks and the like and the U.N. as the purest examples of, cry for the plight of whomever and stand back to fatten their coffers or the coffers of a relative or friend.
