When international shipping is threatened
The world had rushed in to tackle piracy
Military base was built up in Somali waters
But when the country slipped into famine
Few have made a quick reaction to step in
What a paradox
The same country received different responses
Want to know the why of it?
Simple.
Today´s rationality is based on interest
Not on altruistic human and moral values
We must think of a new global center
Abdi-Noor, a paradox or merely the inability of man, for the innumerable circumstances of grief coexisting on a global basis to contend and supply? -- if this were the only region where the horrors of war, natural disaster and man's inhumanity to his fellow man were raging having created a crisis and the world at large stood by and did what appears to be not enough, I would define it as paradoxical -- but the small effort of personnel and equipment to squash the pirates, who would undoubtedly hold relief ships at bay for ransom also, is trivial compared to the order of magnitude change in logistical requirements of feeding several starving nations -- I also no that most European nations and the U.S. are in dire financial circumstances with millions going hungry daily in America -- more Americans on public assistance than anytime in our history with the lines still growing -- a "new global center" suggests world wide socialism to me and I am frankly opposed to any form of that scourge upon the face of humanity -- I am certainly in favor of a new global mantra of peace and compassion by all people for all people -- the U.N. was to serve many of the humanitarian functions required by circumstances similar to those in Somalia, Kenya -- yet from the very onset it was doomed to fail because of massive overt corruption and socialist political maneuvering -- so you see, your "new global center" while a Utopian desire, faces pragmatism with dismal results -- as for myself, I have no single silver bullet elixir to resolve the grief -- I do know that the very best results at resolving horrible circumstances such as this are most fertile when neighbors move in quickly and compassionately with aid and understanding -- global initiatives always leave behind a loathing for those that came from far away to compassionately assist -- I can think of no nation the U.S. has ever given sustained aid to that has not turned on us -- my rant is ended without resolving anything but my opinion is expressed and my compassion for all of humanity is not diminished nor shall it ever wain -- if global peace is the answer, love must be the messenger and compassion the vehicle -- for no bureaucracy is capable of providing positive, lasting results -- Jon Michael
The world is a HOT Mess..to coin a phrase, Not sure where humanity comes in second or third or whatever place...It's a result of people not caring I guess..Not sure why the world is like this it's so sad.

receive 10% (sometimes 15) of the paid ransoms for their risks
and efforts; their controllers, a few thousand miles away,
