I sit
the room is quiet
my legs are crossed
the sun is setting
the blinds are partially open
amber light filters in
I light a candle
then two
then three
I wait
darkness escapes
I begin to meditate
and I ohmmm
letting breath take center stage
I recapitulate
visualize the past
stop…that is a waste
ohmmm shanti ohmmmm
take me to some other place
I travel
my mind leaves
my body stays
I look at myself
but with haste
attention is drawn
onto the canvas
I paint
object comes into view
ethereal light mystifies
it speaks
tells a story
I cry
I shake
with fear
I escape
or so I say
but truth is truth
I hide away
back into body
to wait
Interesting theme and good effort. Knowing myself would have been equally if not more interesting considering the fact that some people spend a lifetime to know themseleves and their real potential.
So excellently expressed, this touches so deeply a spirit hidden deep. Outstanding.

Sara, as this internally wrought piece tumbles down, its brevity belies the huge struggle that unwinds faster and faster, seemingly, until the last word "wait"... like you've drawn away the curtains, scrape the gut and laid it, poetically, on the altar of human recognition...
